Description

See the classic sites of the Golden Circle and more, with this grand tour of not just three but four incredible destinations on this stunning sightseeing route. This trip should not be missed by avid sightseers who don’t want to overlook any great sites.

The Golden Circle is the most popular tourist route in Iceland, consisting of Þingvellir National Park, Geysir Geothermal Area, and Gullfoss waterfall. This immersive excursion, however, will also take you to Kerið Volcano Lake Crater.

After you are picked up in Reykjavík from the pre-determined pick-up spot on your voucher, you will head straight to Þingvellir. This area got it's National Park and UNESCO World Heritage Site status because early Icelanders formed a parliament here in 930 AD, which continues in Reykjavík today over a millennium later.

It is as famous, however, for its geology. It is located right between the North American and European tectonic plates; the edges of both are clearly visible on either side of the park. The tension between them caused eruptions that filled the space with lava rock, rose mountains all around and tore fissures through the earth that have since filled with pristine spring water.

After enjoying Þingvellir, you will head to Haukadalur Valley, where the Geysir Geothermal Area is nestled. This is one of Iceland’s epicentres of geothermal activity; it is packed with hot springs, fumaroles, mud-pots and, of course, geysers. The most impressive of the geysers is Strokkur, which erupts to great heights every five minutes or so.

The third official stop on the Golden Circle is Gullfoss waterfall, which will be your next destination. This mighty feature is world-renowned for its scale, raw power and dramatic beauty. While most tours would turn back to Reykajvík after you have admired it from the different platforms overlooking it, however, this one will continue to another attraction.

Next you will go to Kerið. This vast, perfectly formed crater of vivid red rocks is filled year-round with a pool of azure waters. The contrasts are spectacular, particularly when the sun is shining, thus this is increasingly a favourite spot for photographers.

With all these incredible sites thoroughly enjoyed, you will return to the capital city.

Do not miss this Golden Circle tour, with its bonus of extra sightseeing spots. Check availability by choosing a date.
