Description

Embark on this double winter excursion and go horse riding in Iceland, before setting sail to Faxaflói Bay in the evening for a scenic Northern Lights hunt in open waters. If you want to enjoy two of the most essential Icelandic experiences in just one, adventure-packed day, this tour is perfect for you.

After getting picked up in the city of Reykjavík, you will be brought to stables at the outskirts of the capital, where you will meet and greet the friendly Icelandic horses, known throughout the world for their unique qualities and bustling personalities.

Then, it is time to saddle up and begin your riding tour through the vast lava fields and stunning rock formations of the South Iceland terrain. While horses all over the world walk, trot and gallop, the Icelandic horse possesses the additional gait of ‘tölt’, making for an incredibly smooth and brisk pace.

After having enjoyed the company of these wonderful animals, you will return to Reykjavík and make your way to the Old Harbour area come nightfall. There, you will board a boat to leave the city lights behind and head to the open waters of Faxaflói Bay.

The Northern Lights are a cosmic phenomenon and top the bucket list of people around the world for obvious reasons. Their dancing and colourful display can never be unquestionably guaranteed, but they show up on a whim in the Arctic sky whenever the clouds are away, and the correct solar wind activity is occurring up in space.

Your knowledgeable guides will do their best in calculating their appearance, and tell you all about these amazing natural occurrences, sharing fun facts about the Aurora. All in all, this tour provides a scenic and educational adventure, hopefully topped with the appearance of the lights themselves.

You will then return to the docks of Reykjavík’s Old Harbour, before catching your ride back towards your accommodation. Don’t miss out on this double adventure of horse riding and Aurora hunting in Iceland. Check availability by choosing a date.
