Description

's Explore the incredible Golden Circle route on this private day tour.

On this tour, your guide will start by driving you to Thingvellir National Park. Enter Thingvellir by walking through Almannagja gorge and explore the spectacular nature by foot. This is one of the best places to study the divergent plate boundary in the world. You can see the Euro Asian plate and North American tectonic plates meet.

Thingvellir occupies an essential place in the hearts and minds of Icelanders. It was here that our parliament established in 930, making it the oldest legislative parliament in the world. It was also on this site that Iceland was declared an independent country on June 17th 1944.

From Thingvellir, your guide will take you through the countryside to the thermal landscape around the iconic Geysir. It might even be possible to stop along the way and take pictures of the Icelandic horse.

At Geysir, you can visit some incredible erupting hot springs. Strokkur blows up every 7 minutes or so. Stand a while and enjoy the scenery of the area. Here you can feel the energy and power beneath the island.

Not far from Geysir is Gullfoss, which is our next stop. Some say that Gullfoss is the king of Icelandic waterfalls. It is a beautiful two cascade waterfall and one of the most popular tourist stops in Iceland.

Stop for lunch at a charming restaurant in a greenhouse. Called Friðheimar, this is where a family grows tomatoes all year round.

It is also an option to have lunch at Geysir or Efstadal, a farm restaurant famous for its ice cream.

In good weather, you will be able to see the volcanoes Hekla and Eyjafjallajokull on the journey. Hekla is one of Iceland's most active volcanoes, and Eyjafjallajokull is infamous for its 2010 eruption. This eruption caused significant disruption to air traffic as volcanic ash was spread throughout Europe.

Enjoy plenty of incredible sights from the vehicle as you travel through the Golden Circle route in Iceland. Travel in comfort and customise your trip as much as you wish - your guide is more than happy to accommodate your wishes.
