Description

Explore the east Icelandic wilderness with us on this charming riding tour. This excursion is a combination of horseback riding and hiking and a perfect experience for the nature-loving traveller. On this tour, we will take you to stunning waterfalls, through beautiful landscapes, and to an informative exhibition.

The first destination of the tour is Hengifoss, one of the highest waterfalls in Iceland. The walk from the parking lot to the waterfall takes about 40-60 minutes. On the way there, we also come across another stunning waterfall, Litlanesfoss, which is crowned by exceptional high basalt columns, making it unique and extremely photogenic. After this waterfall walk, we'll ride through narrow valleys, adorned with magnificent escarpments and delicate undergrowth, inwards to the edge of the wilderness.

Once we arrive at the Wilderness Center, we have a tour through the exhibitions where we learn about the life and travels in and next to the wilderness.

The experience of riding an Icelandic horse is something you have to try at least once in your life. To travel on horseback in the wilderness is perfect for those who want the feeling of exclusive freedom. After the ride, guests can feast on a delicious buffet in the kitchen of the Wilderness Center.

Even if you've never ridden before, do not worry, our guides are passionate and qualified, and the Icelandic horses have a reputation for being friendly and reliable. The horses are chosen specifically for each rider, and we provide with all of the necessary riding gear for your trip.

During the tour, we will provide both lunch and refreshments where we focus on local ingredients as well as giving you the chance to try out some traditional Icelandic food.

Don't let this chance to experience the authentic charm of Iceland's friendly horses; it's nature and culture get away from you. Check the calendar to see available departures and secure your spot on this fun tour.
