Procar

Avoid using Procar. They will pursue action against the most minor damage done to the exterior of the car. We were charged the maximum deductible and sent a bill for repairs totalling $1,416.00 for a very minor dent - something that we could barely see and definitely doesn't turn up in pictures. It makes me really angry that they would choose to lose customers to make a few extra bucks from the insurance company.

We rented the Hyundai i10 option, intending to do a self-guided roadtrip up into the Snaefellsnes Peninsula for a day. This was our first trip to Iceland, and we would definitely upgrade to an SUV or 4 wheel drive vehicle for the next time, but this was our mistake and no fault of the rental company. The car handled well on the roads, just lacked slightly in power for some of the larger hills we had to climb (again, our error in choosing the least-expensive car option). We opted for the airport pickup and Reykjavik drop-off options. Airport pickup was easy, and the drop-off location was near the Sun Voyager statue and the Harpa, very walkable.

I would STRONGLY ADVISE AGAINST using ProCar. Please read reviews on Trip Advisor. Our experience is very similar to those who have posted about the scam that this car rental is running, and sadly this had ruined what should have been an amazing trip to Iceland. We rented a mazda for 4 days (9/1/18-9/5/18). Drove only on paved roads. Upon the return of the vehicle, the staff at ProCar found a few minor white spots on the front bumper of the vehicle not visible to a naked eye. Staff said we were responsible for those “damages” and charged us 15000 ISK ($1376.03). In addition, there was some bolt cover missing from the back bumper that they said we lost while driving. We made them look through their records and they actually found that that exact piece was missing long before we rented their car. Had we not insisted on ProCar checking their records, we would have been charged for that too. As much as we were trying to fight with them on the front bumper spots, explaining that we didn’t damage the car and that those spots you would expect from normal wear and tear, we were forced to charge our credit card, as we had an hour left before our flight. If you read previous reviews, you will find other people who posted about how they were wrongfully accused and charged for the same thing—minor dings and spots. This company is a scam and they are shamelessly ripping people off. I suspect that is how they are sustaining their business. ProCar was reported to Iceland Automobile Organization as this injustice has been happening on a regular basis but they continue to lute people. Stay clear of ProCar!!!
