This is Taylor Bayard, an American poet and travel blogger of XIX century. Mister Bayard is an author of first ever report about hashish impact. I like this guy, he looked like Edgar Poe with a long moustache and experimented like Carlos Castaneda.

As I said Taylor Bayard was a travel blogger. Once, 1862, on the route to the hospitable Russia, he visited Iceland and instagrammed a lot from this beautiful land. It was not so long ago so you can recognize a lot of famous Icelandic sights.

For example:

“Residence of the Governor of Iceland”. Currently: Government House on Lækjartorg. Originally it was built in 1761-1771 as a prison.

Look! Tourists explore Almanagjá gap at Thingvellir (included in Golden Circle). Weekly departures by horses, bad educated guides, no wi-fi in transport. That was first steps of Iceland travel industry. Now Golden Circle is a most popular destination in Iceland, and one of the most beautiful of course. Book Golden Circle tours now and follow steps of Mr. Bayard.

Snuff taking. Actually in Iceland is very popular chewing tobacco. Young people put piece of chewing tobacco under upper lip and they looks like rabbits after that, mmmfffff. Please don´t use chewing tobacco. It is harmful to your health and especially to your mouth. Better to eat a kilo of rotten shark than to chew a knockout doze of nicotine.

Mr. Taylor Bayard checked-in Iceland in Foursquare 151 year ago. There was no trans-Atlantic flights, no booking engines, no airport-transfers, no Guide to Iceland. And he did it: come to Iceland and enjoy beautiful Icelandic nature and friendly Icelandic people.

You are welcome to Iceland too! Leave your gadgets at home and use your soul and imagination to experience Iceland.

Best regards,

Konstantin
