Our trip was wonderful. Our guide, Haukur, was informative, kind and tactful. On a five star scale, we would rate our guide at least a ten. He shared experiences growing up in Iceland and as a fisherman for 25 years which brought the culture of Iceland to life for us. He had a wealth of knowledge about the island. Haukur was very safety conscious and worked very hard on making alternative arrangements when changes were made due to hazardous road or sight seeing conditions. We have been sharing stunning photos of your beautiful country with our friends and recommending a tour with a guide as a result of our experience. The advise we would give is take fewer outer clothes. In retrospect, we would take no more than two outfits with plenty of underware and two sets of long jons to layer up. Warm waterproof coats with plenty of sealed pockets works great so you have a place to stuff your gloves, hat, phone, head lamp, hand warmers, billfold, passport, selfie remote against your body... We would recommend water proof pants (Gortex or similar material) also with a lot of sealed pockets. Bring a pair of binoculars. Blue tooth selfie remote got too cold to function properly and the we found we needed to keep it inside a glove so it would stay warm enough to funciton properly.
