The Historic Ingjaldshóll on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula in West-Iceland
Ingjaldshóll on the Snæfellsnes peninsula in West-Iceland is one of the historic sites in Iceland - a former settlement manor and an assembly, and important officials lived here. This travel-blog is a side-blog to my 5-part travel-blog series of the beautiful Snæfellsnes peninsula. Ingjaldshóll was in the possession of the powerful and wealthy Sturlunga Clan for a while, but they controlled this part of Iceland during the 12th and 13th centuries. Unleash your Inner Viking Warrior with a Professional Viking Portrait in Reykjavík
Over the years I have written many travel-blogs on Viking-related activities in Iceland as those of you, who read my travel-blog, know - I love my Viking ancestry and am always on the look-out for Viking-related locations and activities to show you in Iceland. And guess what, in my own city, Reykjavík, I found a professional studio off Laugavegur, our main shopping street downtown, which specializes in Viking portraits. Árhver/Vellir in West-Iceland - Have you ever seen a Hot Spring in the Middle of a River?
In the middle of Reykjadalsá river in the beautiful Borgarfjörður in West-Iceland, you will see steam coming from a river. It looks almost like a whale had found its way into the river and were blowing in the middle of the river. This geological feature is a hot spring which goes by 4 names Árhver, Vellir, Vellindishver and Vellineshver hot spring. I am going to use the name Árhver in my travel-blog as I find it kind of cute - it literally means the hot spring in the river :) Árhver hot spring Árhver, which has been called Iceland's most peculiar hot spring, consists of some 6 vents
