Description

Experience the most incredible sightseeing adventure through this combination tour that will take you to Iceland’s Golden Circle and Raufarholshellir lava tube. Thrill-seekers and nature lovers who want to explore various geological sites near Reykjavik will find this tour very convenient and exciting.

This 10-hour small-group tour departs in the morning from your desired pick-up point within Reykjavik. With your experienced English-speaking guide aboard a comfortable bus with free Wi-Fi access, you’ll be able to see some of Iceland’s impressive natural features while learning about its history and culture.

Your adventure will begin 29 miles (47 kilometers) from the capital with a stunning view of an underground lava field. Located just east of the Reykjanes peninsula, the Raufarholshellir lava tube is the fourth-longest cave in Iceland at 4,460 feet (1,360 meters).

Here you will see firsthand how volcanoes form in Iceland. While climbing and walking through its ancient underground tunnel system, you will see otherworldly formations such as stalactites and stalagmites. This lava caving tour experience will give you plenty of incredible stories to tell when you return home.

After a quick lunch break in a cafe bakery, you will continue the small-group tour to the Golden Circle, home to some of Iceland’s most fascinating and famous natural wonders.

The first stop is Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to the oldest existing Parliament in the world. Once home to Vikings, the geological wonders of Thingvellir are a beauty to be explored. Uniquely Iceland, the tectonic plates of Europe and North America meet here to form a visible rift valley.

The next stop on your adventure is the erupting hot springs of the Geysir geothermal area, where one of the most famous geysers in the world, Strokkur, is found. Gaze in wonder as boiling water erupts into the air up to 82 feet (25 meters) high every five to ten minutes.

Just six miles (10 kilometers) from the geothermal area, you will have the final tour stop with an awe-inspiring natural spectacle. Gullfoss waterfall is two-tiered, with its pristine waters cascading from a drop of 105 feet (32 meters). This beautiful view will amaze you as you watch the water crash down the lava layers that create the cliffside and canyon.

Your excursion ends as you make the trip back to Reykjavik to your pick-up point.

If geological wonder and adventure are your criteria for the perfect vacation, add the Golden Circle and lava caving tour to your calendar. Check availability now by choosing a date.
