Description

Book this ticket to have two whale watches in Iceland, one from Reykjavík and one from the northern town of Akureyri. Iceland's whale life is one of its major attractions, and every whale watch is completely different, with a world of possibility.

By booking this tour, you will have an open ticket from each of these ports. You can either book specific dates, or just show up at each office and jump on an available trip.

From Reykjavík, your whale-watch will set out into Faxaflói Bay. Here, the most common species of great whale is the Minke Whale, which you will hopefully see in abundance. Humpback Whales are also very common, especially in the heights of summer.

From Akureyri, you head into the fjord Eyjafjörður. Here, the opposite is the case; you are more likely to see Humpbacks, but Minkes are still a common sight.

In both locations, Harbour Porpoises and White Beaked Dolphins are very common, and both have a wealth of birdlife. In summer, this includes puffins. No matter where you are whale watching from in the country, you also have a slight chance of seeing other creatures such as Beaked Whales, Orcas, Pilot Whales, and even Blue and Fin Whales.

On neither tour do you need to worry about the cold of the sea air; both whale-watching vessels have indoor areas and the option of borrowing overalls, as well as bars which offer hot drinks, as well as other beverages.

Another similarity between the two whale-watches you will embark on is the fact that the surrounding nature will be mind-blowing. From Reykjavík, you'll be able to see the Whale Fjord, Hvalfjörður, as well as Mount Esjan and the Reykjanes Peninsula. From Akureyri, you will be able to see the incredible mountains of the Tröllaskagi Peninsula, as well as the stunning coastline of Eyjafjörður.

If you do not see any cetaceans (whales, dolphins or porpoises) on either one of the tours, you will get a free ticket to try again, valid for two years.

Take this opportunity to see the whales of Iceland . Check the booking availability above by pressing "Choose a date."
