SHU WUN YANG
I joined an 8-day local tour in Iceland, and our guide John was incredibly knowledgeable, funny, and thoughtful. Every day felt like a mix of geography lessons, history lessons, Icelandic language lessons… and lots of laughter. You could really feel John’s passion. Even when it was freezing, he would finish his “class” before letting us go off to take photos 😂 (though if it was really too cold, he’d finish the explanation on the bus first before letting us out). John didn’t just talk—he actually cared whether we remembered what he taught. Every morning on the bus, we’d get a little quiz about the previous day. I tried hard to keep up, and by the end I could remember the Icelandic words for waterfall, glacier, and church 😆 Thank you, John, for putting so much heart into helping us understand the local culture. Even the music on the bus was carefully chosen to match the scenery—he introduced us to Viking songs, Icelandic music, and even played customized tracks based on where the group members were from. You could really see his attention to detail. The itinerary was also very well planned. John managed the timing perfectly, knew exactly how long to stay at each stop, and even took us to some extra spots along the way. The biggest surprise was that we were a bit disappointed the tour didn’t include Ingjaldshóll Church—but John actually took us there! We love you, John! 😍😍😍 I highly recommend joining his local tour if you’re visiting Iceland. The bus has Wi-Fi, so you can post your photos right after getting back on (as long as you don’t get motion sickness 😂)
